Instructions for the T1 and T2 sites - know which one is yours…
If you have any needs or problems please call or text us: Peter 0431 053 346 or Michelle 0403 582 978
Entering, exiting and parking
T1 Parking: park just inside the main top gate where signed T1 car park. Best to park here and walk down the path to the tent in the forest. If you have 4 wheel drive or are a confident driver you are ok to drive down the main driveway and follow the track to the tent. (note: the forest track is just for our own 4wd access sometimes.)
T2 Parking: park on the prepared roadside park signed T2 carpark, and then walk through the small pedestrian gate and straight down the hill fenceline to the tent and shelter. (please keep the gate shut as our alpacas may accidentally be wandering through this paddock sometimes.)
Checking In & Out
Self check in, but feel free to call or message us anytime. Check ins from 2pm. Check outs by 10am. You can ask for a late checkout, and we’ll try to accomodate your request but it will be subject to whether there are guests following on from you.
Please leave the site in a tidy state - put rubbish in bins, wash dirty dishes and leave things left as you found them. (No need to make the bed as it will be changed. Towels to the floor.)
You’re now living off-grid
Camp toilet is the same as used in caravans etc. We’ve provided you with spring drinking water in the carboard cask labelled as this. The tap water is only for washing (NOT drinking). The canvas camp shower is simple and effective (and cold unless you mix some hot water in with the cold water (both sites have a kettle and stovetop to heat water.) (Have you heard about the health benefits of cold showers?)
T1 has a solar powered battery in the cabin for recharging torches and your phones.
T2 is more basic, with battery lantern and a wind-up lantern (how cool is that!)
Your spaces
Outside: Please respect others privacy. The property has 5 accommodation options (Homestead Loft, Cottage, 2 Tents and a Studio) each with their own private outdoor spaces. Yours is the paddock you are in - so basically enjoy what’s inside your paddock gates.
Cooling
The shade is your friend when camping! And it usually cools down quickly in the evenings here in the hills.
Heating
T1 has a wood fireplace in the cabin that can be used all year round. The outside fireplace can only be used outside of fire danger season (as declared by CFS and our own local assessment of fire danger - we’ll tell you. Usually ok from May to October/November.)
T2 has an outdoor fireplace that can only be used outside of fire danger season (as declared by CFS and our own local assessment of fire danger - we’ll tell you. Usually ok from May to October/November.) There’s also a gas heater for use under the shelter if you need it (please note: this MUST NOT BE USED IN TENT - can cause death by suffocation or fire!)
We supply one free 15 kg bag of firewood and kindling (and matches and firelighters) - please BYO extra firewood if you need more. (If we have some spare firewood we can sell you a bag for $20 if we are on site.)
How to light a wood fire: Please use the fire pit containers provided. Place 2 or 3 firelighters in the centre of the fireplace, place small pieces of wood (kindling) or pine cones on top of that, and 2 or 3 larger pieces of firewood on top of that. Light the firelighters with a match.
IMPORTANT: Extinguish Outside Camp Fires before you go to bed or leave it unattended. Either pour some water on or better to cover with sand to smother fire. Why? because winds can blow hot embers onto surrounding grasses and cause a dangerous fire.
P.S. please use the blankets and cushions especially provided for outdoor (and remember to bring them in to keep them dry).
Cooking
T1 has a gas barbeque with a gas stovetop on the side. Remember to turn on the gas at the bottle, and turn of when finished. Saucepans etc in the cabin.
T2 only has a gas stovetop atop the gas bottle - mostly for boiling the kettle if needed. No formal cooking facilities here.
Wifi
No wifi but good mobile coverage.
